She whispers in my ear and tells me that I am perfect and beautiful just the way I am and I almost believe her. I don’t take this information lightly. It is something I will think about. In quiet moments I sometimes feel soft, wispy tickles on my face, reminiscent of butterfly wings, and I wonder - could they be her wings? We are friends now, and I am curious to know her name so I ask a special lady for help. I watch in awe as she becomes quiet, focused, and alert the consummate listener. “All I can tell you”, she says, “is that she comes from the tribe of Gabriel. You must give her a name yourself.” So after awhile I begin calling her Ruby, because that is my birthstone. It is also my favorite color and the name of my daughter, if she had been born. It is a name that brings me joy and reminds me that the world is full of beauty if we keep our hearts open to it. I can’t think of a better name for an angel and in my heart I believe she likes it. |
